Image File IFilters

Of course, there are many different image file formats.  You probably have a hard drive full of digital photos, graphics you designed yourself or ones you downloaded from the web.  Desktop search will index many of these without additional IFilters.  For more info, see the list here (MSN.COM)

The images themselves are not indexed, since they don't contain any text.  However, the filename and metadata are indexed.  An IFilter is required for indexing the image metadata.  The image metadata can be very useful if you have lots of digital photos to organize.
